Weekend update

My dad, Grampy, came over for a visit on New Year's Eve, helping out while Anna was out of school for Christmas break. It was a rather quiet start to the new year. Anna, Melanie and my nieces, Kaitlyn and Taylor were up to ring in the new year with non-alcoholic peach flavored champagne (it tasted better than ours!)! Of course they all took one sip and said that they didn't like it!!! K&T spent the night; the girls had a camp out in Anna's bedroom - they were all asleep within 5 minutes! Luckily, they slept in the next morning.

Bob and my dad went to the Cotton Bowl - Bob's company, Dr. Pepper/7UP, sponsored the game; he received several tickets, a parking pass and tickets to the pre-game breakfast feast. They had a blast.

Grampy took the girls shopping so they could spend some of the money they received for Christmas. Brought them to see Mommy at work and then took them to see the movie Enchanted on Friday. The girls sure did enjoy their week with Grampy.

On Friday, Anna had a sleepover birthday party with two of her friends, Kaitie and Kensey. From what I hear they were up past midnight, painted their nails, put washable tatoos everywhere and played all sorts of games.

Saturday, Bob was out most of the day due to his commitments as the Assistant Commissioner of Basketball, but me, Dad and Melanie joined him for a bit to help out since they were short handed, as always! Melanie and I went to pick Anna up from her sleepover and headed back to the gym. After a while, we decided to pick up breakfast, doughnuts, yum!!! Anna knocked one of their chairs over, while sitting in it, which had nothing to do with her sitting in it backwards leaning in that direction! Of course she screamed and cried - her right knee made direct contact with their concrete floor! Luckily she walked away with a few bruises, I was expecting a little worse.

Bob's basketball game was at 6 PM, so after Dad left, we packed up in the truck and followed our friend Dan and his family to the gym (45 minutes north of us). You could see that the boys were all excited, their adrenaline pumping, they were just all over the place. Fortunately, they pulled out the win, 28-20 - yea!!! It was a late night, since we didn't eat before the game we ended up eating with Dan, Robin, Matt & Jeff at Cheddars. It was our first time there; it was pretty tasty.

Sunday was our typical morning filled with church festivities. Afterwards, we spent the day putting away all of our Christmas decorations - what a chore!!! Then we went into "back-to-school" mode - that wasn't so pleasant! All of the laundry, all of the ironing, making lunches, etc... I'm tired just writing about all of it!

This past week was a good one, we'll see how this one goes - it all depends on the Buckeyes!!!
